Order of the Arrow
The Order of the Arrow is the national honor society of Scouting America, recognizing Scouts who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. The Scout honorees are elected by their troops. The Order’s focus is on brotherhood, cheerfulness, and service, and provides leadership opportunities for its youth members.
During our 2021 expedition, we had three Section Chiefs as well as numerous other active OA members. Four youth and one adult had not yet sealed their membership with the Brotherhood honor, so these Chiefs organized and conducted a Brotherhood ceremony while on Antarctica. To receive this signal honor at such a remote and awe-inspiring location is an unforgettable life experience.
